Chapter 5: Of Prayer
Section 1. Q. What is prayer? A. Prayer is the lifting up of the mind and heart to God, which consists in pious meditation on God, and his works, and manifests itself in petition, thanksgiving, and praise of God.
Section 2. Q. What should we ask for in prayer? A. We should ask for those things which are pleasing to God, and profitable for our souls — for the forgiveness of sins, for salvation, for aid in all good works, and for the coming of his kingdom.
