Chapter 1: Of Faith
Section 1. Q. What is faith? A. According to the definition of the Apostle Paul, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb. xi. 1); that is, a trust in the unseen as though it were seen, in that which is hoped for and not yet present as if it were present.
Section 2. Q. What is Christian faith in particular? A. A trust in our Lord Jesus Christ as the only Savior of men, and in his atoning sacrifice for sins, as the means of our reconciliation with God.
